Samy's Projects Series - Using Search Engine Friendly Directories

Search Engine Friendly directories are those that have categorised listings of websites that have been checked and approved by the directory owners. The search engines like these types of directories and treat them as a type of "authority site", meaning a site in which they have trust.

We can use them for SEO purposes and we can get "one way links" back to our sites or blogs.

Important: You can't just submit any site that is lacking in quality or substance. Even if your site is just one page but contains relevant and pertinent information it will get accepted. Do not submit sites or blogs that are incomplete, under construction and lack any substance.

Here's what to do:

• Do a search on Google for "search engine friendly directories"
• You will find plenty of resources and possibly lists of search engine friendly sites.
• Here is a list of sites that have good pagerank. At the time of compilation of these sites, most of them were free, however sometimes these directories may change their policy and charge a nominal fee for a one way link. But you will find plenty of free ones. Also these sites have at least a page rank of 5 with Google.

  You can use any of these directories to submit your blog, or your website. Once you have submitted it, just forget about it. Don't resubmit, otherwise you might annoy the directory owners. Once it has been submitted, it is in their database and they will review it.
  
• You can get some good quality, high page rank, one way links by using the likes of these directories, and this is another tool in your arsenal of SEO tools and processes.
  
• IMPORTANT TIP FOR ADSENSE SITES: If you are creating a site and want to monetize it with Adsense, I strongly advise that you do not add adsense to it straight away. In fact, I never add adsense to my sites when I launch them. I do a bit of link-building, pinging etc. till they are in the search engines and until I see traffic. Then I add Adsense to them. So do not add adsense straight away. A lot of directory owners may decline links to new sites that have adsense on them.
